On Saturday the 6th Grade Comets went to Winamac to play North Judson in the opening round of the HNAC Tournament. The Comets were hoping to avenge an earlier loss to the Blue Jays. The Comets had a couple of players that were unable to play, but the Comets were anxious to get going! Unfortunately, it was the Blue Jay that made three straight buckets and the Comets were down early. The Comets moved the ball and had very good shots, but no shots went through the hoop! So going into the second quarter down 6, the Comets still felt pretty good. However, the second quarter was even tougher for the Comets. The Comets just were not able to get up good shots! Finally, the Comets got to go to the free throw line where they were able to just get 3 of the 10 shots to go through the hoop! The Comets went into the locker room down 18-3 without a field goal! We could not have been any worse! The Comets were sure that they could do much better in the second half. The third quarter was much better as Craig Bear finally got a few shots to drop and he also got to the free throw line! The Comets just could not get enough stops to close the gap. At the end of 3 quarters, the Comets were down 12-26! The 4th quarter was a struggle as there were no more fouls called! The final score was 16-34! Bear Craig could have used the help today. He was the only Comets to score! The Comets will return to the home floor on Monday against Tippy Valley with a 5:30 pm start! Hope to see you there to cheer on these Comets!
