Comet Golfers Fall in 3 Way Match

By BOYS GOLF | May 13, 2025 8:43 PM

Comet golfers hosted an efficient 3-way match Tuesday afternoon against Demotte Christian and Knox. Demotte Christian came away with the victory firing a 188 followed by Knox with a 193. Brock Teune was the medalist with a 42 for Demotte Christian. The Comet Varsity reeled in a 200 total score in the partially rainy conditions. Max Sommers led the Comets with a 45 followed by Gage Thomas with a 51, Jace Rentschler 51, Owen Chapman 53, and Luke Graham with a 56. Coach Rentschler commented after the round, "We played a very efficient round of golf which featured 29 players. I was very proud of the pace of play tonight. I'm extremely proud of some of our younger players like Brody Brewer 57 and Drew Williams 55. I saw those boys make some great golf shots and make some pars. That is great progress for first time players. The young guys don't get rattled, and I like to see that. Chas Warpenburg 53 had another decent round and is very close to giving the starting 5 a run for their money. As a team, we have to get mentally tougher. All these guys can hit golf shots like no other. We just need to keep our cool and do it consistently shot after shot. 'Have a short memory in golf,' is what I like to tell them." Comet golfers will be fine tuning later in the week after an off day in preparation for a match at CMA and HNAC next week.
