Longtime Caston soccer coach, Narciso Sanchez, has decided to step away from the sport he's coached at Caston for the past 18 seasons. "I just felt it was time," said Sanchez. "I want to focus more of my time and energy on my son and my family — and also take some time to work on myself. Coaching is a demanding role, and right now, it’s important for me to prioritize personal growth and being more present at home." Sanchez was at the helm of the Caston soccer program for the past 18 years where he won multiple conference championships and one Sectional title in 2021. He described that victory as an incredible highlight and a special moment that he'll always remember. When asked what he'll miss the most about coaching the Comets, Sanchez said, "The relationships, connections, and bridges formed with the players. Seeing them grow — not just as athletes but as young men and women — has been the most rewarding part of coaching." The Comets ended the 2024 season with a 5-8-1 record in what turned out to be Sanchez's final season. The Comets will return a strong nucleus of young players in 2025 and will look to build upon Sanchez's success. Sanchez will continue to teach at Caston Elementary School.
