Head coach Carl Davis and the Comet boys' basketball team are ready to get their season underway this Tuesday night, November 26th, with a home tilt against Lakeland Christian Academy. The two teams have kicked off their seasons the week of Thanksgiving for the past 12 seasons. The Comets lost 6 seniors and 80% of their scoring from last year's sectional runner-up squad. Returning letter winners include junior Gavin Mollenkopf and sophomores Lane Hook and Reed Sommers. Talented but inexperienced could be the theme to start the season for the 24-25 squad Davis knows there could be some struggles along the way as younger players adjust to varsity basketball and their roles within the squad. However, he feels his squad is ready to attack the season. "We will be a young group with a majority of the team getting their first Varsity experience. We are excited to see the growth of this group as the season progresses. They have been extremely focused and competitive with great energy to start the season. They are an extremely fun group to coach," said the 8th year coach. Following the home contest vs. LCA, the Comets will travel to the Berry Bowl after the holiday to face the Berries in the annual Cass County Tournament.
