The Caston School Board recently approved the hiring of 1985 Caston alum and former wrestler, Steve Maroney, to lead its wrestling program. Maroney comes back to Caston after being an assistant coach under Brady Jones and also at Kokomo under the direction of Jacob Bough. Maroney still holds the school record for most wins in a season in the 126 weight class where he finished a sparkling 22-4. Here's what Maroney offered up about taking over for the Comet wrestling program, "Shad and I are very excited for this year's team. I hope the kids are excited as we are. My season goals are to fill all the weight classes this year, which is very important to competing for championships as a team. In order to achieve that, it's going to take hard work and dedication from the kids as well as the coaching staff." He added, "I ask for the Caston community to support us this year. Come watch the kids wrestle and let's put Caston wrestling back on the map!" Coach Maroney will be assisted by Shad Kochenderfer, a 2004 graduate of Tri-Central High School. Excitement and numbers are building for the program, as evidenced by the 25+ wrestlers who have signed up. The Comets open up their season on November 21st at Wabash
