Rude to Continue Softball Career at Grace

By Trent Tocco | Apr 29, 2026 6:40 PM

Senior Myli Rude committed to Grace College this afternoon with a signing ceremony in the school's cafeteria with the support of her family, friends, coaches, and teammates. For the Comets in her final season, Rude is currently hitting .406 (3rd on the team) with 2 home runs (tied for 1st), 5 stolen bases (1st), and 11 RBIs (2nd). Here's a Q&A session with Myli What made you choose Grace College? Grace college was one of the very first colleges I looked into and I immediately knew God had a plan for me there. I was looking for somewhere that would feel like home and make the next chapter a little smoother, giving me the atmosphere where I’m surrounded by Godly people while I'm still growing in my faith, and it is a huge bonus having the opportunity to play softball there. What is your favorite memory of playing sports while participating as a student-athlete at Caston? My favorite memory and by far one of the biggest things I’ll miss while playing sports at Caston is the family atmosphere. You are never on a team where you aren’t included and have a bond like no other. How long have you played softball? Did you always aspire to continue playing in college? I have played softball since I was about 6 years old. It hasn’t always been the plan to play in college until these past few years when I realized the thing I’ve done my entire life was coming to an end. Who were people along the way that helped you achieve this goal? There have been many people in my life who have helped me achieve my goals. My mom and dad have always been right by my side and making sure I’m giving my full effort and performing to my full potential. All of my friends who I have grown up with and played softball with my entire life have always helped me enjoy the sport and continue getting better. My current travel coach, Brad Smith, was constantly on me to work for what I wanted. What has been your biggest challenge as a high school athlete? One of my biggest challenges as a high school athlete has been keeping the fire going to continue growing and doing better. It’s been hard to find the energy to just go out and do extra hitting or give all my time to making myself a better athlete. I’ve also found that pushing through that challenge and making changes and improving feels way better than sitting around wishing I would’ve tried harder. Rapid Fire Jersey Number? #14 Favorite pre-game meal? Cold meat sandwich with fruit Favorite athlete growing up? Lauren Chamberlain Favorite HS class? Weights One word your teammates would use to describe you? Driven
